Recurring appointments
A recurring appointment is a clean idea: every week, every month, every six weeks, same time, same place. Then someone phones on Tuesday.
The practical question is not dramatic. It is: did this one appointment move, or did the whole series move? If the software asks that question badly, the front desk pays for it.
| Recurring item | Usual problem | Better note |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly appointment | One week shifts and the next week stays put. | Mark "this date only" and leave the future dates alone. |
| Monthly review | The month length changes the day-of-week. | Write the actual date, not just "monthly." |
| Six-week follow-up | Counting by weeks is easy until holidays intervene. | Confirm the printed date before handing over the card. |
| Standing appointment | Staff remember it, then forget it was moved once. | Keep the old date visible long enough to prevent double-booking. |
Series versus one date
Older software sometimes hid the difference behind one button. Paper books made the difference visible, but also made it messy. There is no perfect tool here, only clear notes.
